Obituary of Garrell Francis

Garrell L. (Chet) Francis went Home, Monday, June 28, 2010, due to complications from lung cancer. He was 65. He is survived by his wife, Lita Francis; his daughter, Janel L. Francis, of Deering, Missouri; his son, Master Sgt. John B. Francis, USMC and wife, Sandy, of Temecula, California; his grandchildren, Caitlyn, Sean and Liam; his brother Jennings Francis, and wife, Mable; his sister Mavis Hammond and husband, Wayne; his brothers Jim Francis, Sr,; Douglas Francis and wife, Debbie, Roger Francis and wife, Bonnie; and sister Robin Colegrove and husband, Rod, all of Ohio. His wife�s family loved him as a brother as well. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Gert and Burl Francis; his sister, Ranelle; and his brothers Wendell, Eddy and Hawett. He was born in Smithsboro, Kentucky, September 1, 1944. He graduated from Allied Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, with a B.S. in Tool Engineering, in 1966. He was recruited by McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis after graduation. He considered himself to be very lucky to have found his niche, manufacturing design and engineering, at a young age; he loved his work and he did it well. He was a devoted family man. He was a scout leader for both his children, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts (one of the first male G.S. leaders in the St. Louis Council). He was an Outdoor Survival Specialist and an Outdoor Adventure trainer for Girl Scouts. He enjoyed traveling, road trips (loved to drive), camping, fishing, boating, enjoying the great outdoors always. He loved to dance. He also loved his log house and deck. He was a genuinely good man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend; and we will miss him deeply.
