Obituary of Jerry Wayne Burton

Jerry Wayne Burton, age 66, of Linn Creek, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at his residence in Linn Creek. Jerry was born July 17, 1943, in Paducah, Kentucky, the son of Charles and Zolona (Vaughn) Burton. Jerry was united in marriage to Debra J. Hargett, in Lake Ozark, Missouri on October 18, 1987. He considered her to be the best wife in the world. Jerry attended Paducah Tilman High School, graduating in 1961. He later joined the United States Air Force, where he was a crew chief on fighter jets, serving at RAF Wetherfield England from 1961-1965. He attended college at Murray State, in Murray, Kentucky. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for McDonnell Douglas, and also worked in sales for R.J. Reynolds, STP Corporation, Bayer Corporation, Telefloral, and BFI Insurance for ten years. Jerry served as a Councilman for the city of Union Missouri for a time. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing. Jerry is survived by his wife Debra, of the home; one son, Marc and his wife, Michelle Burton of Tampa, Florida, and grandson Max Burton. Also surviving is Anne Abell, mother of Marc, along with several other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Gene Burton, and one daughter, Lisa Dawn Burton.
