Obituary of Donald W. Meyer

Donald W. Meyer, age 76, asleep in Jesus, Monday, July 12, 2010 at home in Linn Creek, Missouri. Donald was born October 1, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of William C. and Esther (Maack) Meyer, and grew up in Hermann, Missouri. He was baptized by his grandfather at Marcus Lutheran Church in St. Louis, and later confirmed at the Lutheran church in Washington, Missouri. Donald was united in marriage on July 3, 1954 in Bay, Missouri, to Doris A. Buschmann, and together they had shared the past 56 years until his death. Donald served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1954-1956, stationed in Germany. Donald was superintendent of the Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri for 38 years. He loved his job and was proud to take good care of the grounds there. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and boating at the lake, and spending time with family. Donald is survived by his loving wife Doris, of the home; three daughters, Julia M. Russian of Spring, Texas, Donna S. Beeman and husband, Ron, of Linn Creek, Missouri, and Jane D. Hale and husband, Mark, of Warrenton, Missouri; two sisters, Marian Kline and husband, Raymond, of St. Charles, Missouri and Barbara Kiehl and husband, Harold, of Creve Couer, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Nicole Burrell Bernard Russian, Jr., Rebecca Russian, Alesha Russian, Julie Beeman, Joseph Beeman, Blake Hale, and Joshua Hale; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob Burrell, Nathan Burrell, Brenna Burrell, Isabelle Russian, Dylan Jackson, Kaitlyn Jackson, Logan Beeman-Brown, and Emma Sue Beeman. He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to local services there will be a Graveside Service on Friday, July 16, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
