Obituary of James A. Owens
James A. Owens, Sr., born March 17, 1918 to Charles August Owens and Margaret Louise Tackett in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on July 22, 2010 in Pacific, Missouri.
James married Mary Ruth Grosvenor in Lebanon, Missouri, on June 11, 1943. They had one son, James A Owens, Jr., born April 28, 1954 in Fulton, Missouri. Ruth passed away in Brumley, Missouri on August 2, 2002.
James married Juanita Marguerite Kemper in Brumley, Missouri on November 12, 2004. Juanita passed away in December 2007.
James retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1980 and moved from Pacific, Missouri to Brumley, Missouri in 1983, where he lived until moving to El Dorado Springs, MO in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters and two wives. He is survived by his son, James, Jr. and wife, Pam, of Pacific, Missouri; a granddaughter, Dee Matthews and husband, James, of Gray Summit, Missouri; a grandson Brian Smith and wife, April, of Monett, Missouri; a grandson Benjamin Owens of Grandview, Missouri; a grandson Daniel Owens and wife, Kelli, of Pacific, Missouri and a grandson Jay Owens of Grandview, Missouri. His descendants include eight great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
He was a longtime member of the Masons and received his 50-year pin at the Clintonville Lodge AF&AM #482 on June 11, 2009.
He served in the Merchant Marine Service of the United States Coast Guard during World War II.
His hobbies included small and big game hunting and panfish fishing. He raised catfish and hybrid bluegill in a pond on his property in Brumley.
James was a member of Brumley Baptist Church for 23 years, and a member of the Roscoe Christian Church in Roscoe, MO from 2006 to 2010.
