Obituary of Norman G. Hawkins

Norman G. Hawkins, age 66, of Osage Beach, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at his residence in Osage Beach. He was born July 5, 1944 in Canton, Illinois, the son of Melvin and Virginia (Clanin) Hawkins. On July 15, 1967 in Macomb, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Connie Gregory and together they had shared the past 43 years until his death. Norman served his country proudly in the United States Army, earning a Purple Heart medal in the Viet Nam War. Norman was a farmer by trade, working in both agriculture and livestock farming. He also worked in over the road trucking. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion, both of Ipava, Illinois, a member of the VFW in Lewistown, Illinois and the Elks club of Osage Beach, Missouri. He loved tractors and was President of the Mid-MO Pure Power Tractor Club. More than anything, he loved his family and spending time with them. Norman is survived by his loving wife, Connie, of the home; son Charles Russell Hawkins and wife, Maria, of Wentzville, Missouri; daughter, Deidre Anne Curley and husband, Patrick, of Osage Beach, Missouri; his mother, Virginia Nelson of Osage Beach, Missouri; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hawkins, Rebekah Hawkins, Jacob Curley, Mary Grace Hawkins, Julia Curley, Joshua Curley, and Matthew Hawkins; cousin, Kenton Hawkins of Industry, Illinois, as well as several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Melvin Hawkins.
