Obituary of Edith Ann Vinduska
Edith Ann Vinduska was born October 11, 1937 in rural Hepler, Kansas. She passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Lake Regional Hospital. She was eight days shy of 75 years old.
Mrs. Vinduska was the fourth of seven children born to Opal and Walter Weber. She completed eighth grade before setting aside academia to help her parents on the family farm. She also worked as a waitress at Jones' Restaurant in Pittsburg, Kansas, and this is where she met her husband, Fred. They were married on June 12, 1960, and to this union four children were born. She and Fred were married 52 years before his passing earlier this year.
After Fred joined the Army, Edith and the family did a lot of traveling with him, including time in Germany, Arizona and Washington. They made a permanent home at the Lake of the Ozarks after Fred retired from the Army out of Fort Leonard Wood. She continued waitress work at the Night Hawk with her eldest daughter and retired from Tan-Tar-A after working there for many years, moving from Housekeeping to the Food Court. She was working when the Burger King there was first opened, now nearly 20 years ago.
She had a zest for life, and loved her family with a fierce passion, no matter where they were. She had a heart of gold and never met a stranger, as she took everyone in and treated them like family. She enjoyed to travel as well, and did so every chance she got, especially to her hometown area of Girard, Kansas. Wherever there was a game of cards to be played, you would find her there as well. Pitch or Canasta, she was there loving every moment. She also loved to crochet, and always had a project in mind, leaving no one out. The many afghans she made for her family which will be cherished for years to come. The memories are endless, and so is the family's love for her. She was the best sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother anyone could have ever been blessed with, and she will be missed beyond words.
Along with her husband Fred, she was preceeded in death by her parents, a baby sister at birth, and three other siblings: Tony Weber, Garnett Weber and Catheryn Schlesener. All four children survive her: Cynthia Nelson and her husband John of Camdenton, Missouri, Deborah Vinduska of Camdenton, Missouri, Donald Vinduska of Camdenton, Missouri, and Dawn West of Kansas City, Missouri; and Richard Vinduska and his wife Kim of Camdenton, Missouri; three cherished granddaughters, Christina Winther and her husband Paul of Springfield, Missouri; Megan Boze of Kansas City, Missouri; and Cheyenne Moore of Camdenton, Missouri; one cherished great-granddaughter, Rebecca Winther of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Irvin Weber and his wife, Doris of Derby, Kansas, and two sisters, Sandra Pontious of Girard, Kansas and Charlott Mason and her husband Gene of Girard, Kansas. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive her.
