Obituary of Alyce Carroll Grateke

On November 17, 2012, Alyce Carroll Greteke, age seventy-nine, broke the bonds of earth for the last time, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after a three year battle with cancer. She was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord and served Him all the days of her life. She loved her family, home, and church, plus the many friends she had acquired while living a full life. Alyce was married to George H. Grateke for forty-four years. Together they shared a large family of four children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Children with spouses; David and Julie Grateke, Brenda and John Naeger, Mark and Beth Grateke, and Mary Jill and Jeff Brenton; Grandchildren with spouses; Stephanie Grateke, John and Lisa Naeger, Katie and Russ Bollinger, Ryan Grateke, Jacob Naeger, Chad and Chessey Brenton, Rachael and Nick Fast, Drew Grateke, and Greg and Stephanie Brenton; Great grandchildren; Rieley Bollinger, Carrie Naeger, Elaina Fast, Jack Naeger and Emma Fast. Alyce loved to play her beautiful grand piano, one of her prized possessions; she was also a church organist for twelve years at her church, Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church. Throughout her professional career, she worked as a legal secretary for many attorneys while following her husband George from state to state as a construction superintendent. Her many hobbies included knitting, volunteering, water aerobics, camping, boating, and most of all fishing. She cherished the many four footed canine companions she and George shared throughout their years together. Alyce was a wonderful pal who will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
