Obituary of Dorothy Joiner

Dorothy Marie Hyde Joiner, age 83, of Tuscumbia, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Miller County Nursing Home in Tuscumbia. Dorothy was born April 26, 1929 in Priest River, Idaho, the daughter of David Anthony and Reva Thelma (Ropp) Ashby. She was united in marriage in 1946 to Frank Tillman Hyde who preceded her death in 1980. She was married in 1963 to Bobby Joe Joiner and they moved to Tuscumbia, Missouri in 1967. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1994. Dorothy worked for the Department of Corrections. She was proud of her family members that served their country in all branches of the military, by defending it; every generation up to her grandson in Iraq. She enjoyed genealogy and had traced her roots back to 700 AD after 25 years of research. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, sewing and quilting. More than anything, Dorothy loved her family dearly and loved spending time with them. Dorothy is survived by her daughters; Rozanna Chambers and husband, Alan, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Rita McDowell and husband, Willard, of Tuscumbia, Missouri; five granddaughters; one grandson; twenty one great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild, along with several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; one brother; one son, Russell Tillman Hyde; and one granddaughter.
