Obituary of Maureta Allene Carder
Maureta Allene Salisbury Carder passed away at Laurie Care Center on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the age of 96.
Maureta was born August 10, 1916 to Manford and Anna LaRue Salisbury on a farm near Pollock, Missouri. She graduated from Unionville High School in 1934.
On October 3, 1936 she married Charles E. Carder in Unionville, Missouri. A son, John Harold, was born in 1941 and a daughter, Nancy June, was born in 1944. She worked as a housewife until Charlie retired and they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1964. In Las Vegas, she worked for Sears Roebuck until 1980, when she quit to take care of her husband. She then worked for the Review Journal Newspaper until 2004, working until one day past her 88th birthday. She then moved to Laurie, Missouri to be near her son and daughter-in-law.
Maureta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandy Carder of Lake of the Ozarks; three grandsons, Reb Grybowski, Brad Grybowski, and Brett Grybowski and wife, Lisa; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Mary Salisbury and Bonnie Salisbury, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her father, her husband Charles in 1981, and her daughter Nancy in 1988; five brothers, Ora, Virgil, Basil, Larmon, and Eldon Salisbury; and three sisters, Olive Alexander, Ruth Tucker, and Betty Bush.
She was loved by all her relatives. When anyone needed a place to stay, she and Charlie always opened their home to them. Maureta never knew a stranger and would start a conversation wherever she went. She will be dearly missed.
