Obituary of Darlene D. Pooler
Darlene Deloris Pooler, 96, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, Missouri. She was born September 24, 1916 to Georgia and Wesley Wentworth in Rapid City, SD. Darlene was the third of five children born to them.
Darlene met Ralph Pooler in Blair NE. Both families soon migrated to Oakland, CA, where, in 1936 Darlene and Ralph were married in Berkley, CA. The couple raised three children; Wesley Pooler, who preceded her in death, of Brookings, OR, Barbara Davis of Elk Grove, CA and Karen Brindle of Linn Creek, MO.
Darlene was a hard and conscientious worker from a very early age. And that strong work ethic permeated her entire life. She worked two jobs for over 20 years after losing her husband, Ralph, in 1964. Darlene worked in the Hayward, Ca. School District, and retired after 29 years. She was also an iconic figure at Casper�s Hot Dogs on C Street and Foothill Boulevard for over 40 years. She retired at age 89.
Darlene�s spunk and tenacity will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her two aforementioned daughters, and by son-in-law Steven Brindle, daughter-in-law Verna Pooler and by five grandchildren; Jennifer Thompson, Lisa McGinnis, Gary Davis, Brad Davis and Damian Brindle. Darlene also is survived by eleven great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
