Obituary of Dorothy K. Houston

Dorothy K. Houston of Camdenton passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Dorothy was born September 20, 1918 in Georgetown, Missouri, to Sally E. (O�Bannon) Horan and James Horan. In 1923 the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Dorothy lived most of her life. She married William L. Adkins and to this union were born three sons; William, Patrick, and Michael Adkins. Mrs. Adkins worked at the Lake City Arsenal and ten years at the Bendix Corporation of Kansas City. In 1968, she married Charles Houston. They owned and operated a farm near Unionville, Missouri. While there she worked a short time at Missouri Mining. In 1996 they retired and moved to Camdenton, Missouri. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Houston; four brothers, Jerome Horan, Thomas Horan, John Horan and Jim Horan of Kansas City, Missouri; and two sisters, Lucille Helton of Kansas City, Missouri and Helen Tobler of Anaheim, California. Dorothy is survived by her sons, William Adkins of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Patrick and Melba Adkins of Lake Ozark, Missouri and Michael and Cindy Adkins of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Larry Adkins, Michael Adkins, Karen Pringle, Julie Mosher, Tina Adkins and Tammy Adkins and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Helen Horan and Delores Horan, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
