Obituary of Marylee W. Murray

Marylee Winifred Murray went to be with Jesus on April 4, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimer�s. She went peacefully with her daughter Brenda by her side while in Lake Meadows Nursing Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. Marylee was born December 2, 1927 in Qulin, Missouri. She was the second of nine brothers and sisters born to Jesse and Beulah Melton. The family worked their cotton farm in Upper Davis. On January 10, 1946, Marylee married Claude Edward Murray, Jr. They were married for 68 years and had three children, Michael, Brenda and Linda. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas. Marylee started her teaching career in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, in a two room school with a wood stove. From there she taught in Kinyon and O�Neil Elementary. She was Brenda�s fifth grade teacher. Marylee was a member of Eastern Star, a branch of the Masonic Lodge. The family moved to Florissant in 1964, where Claude and Marylee held positions in the Ferguson Florissant School District. Marylee was an admired and devoted teacher. She taught school in London, England, to learn the latest techniques. She retired after teaching for forty- two years. Marylee was close with her brothers and sisters. Holidays will always be remembered with the gathering of relatives. Traveling was a favorite for Marylee. She has traveled Europe, Middle East, Greece, and Turkey. Claude and Marylee enjoyed taking their grandson Corey on vacation as well. Marylee was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved caring for each and everyone. Corey, Matt, Ted, Meredith, Scott, Nicole, and Tamara all hold their own dear memories. She was able to hold her great grandson, Mason, born November 17, 2012. Marylee is survived by; her husband Claude Murray, son Michael and his wife LaDonna, daughter Brenda, daughter Linda and her husband Mike, seven grandchildren, Corey, Matt, Ted, Meredith, Scott, Nicole, and Tamara, and one great grandson Mason; her brothers and sisters, Melburn, Juanita, Georgia, Vera, Glen, Kenneth, Ruby and Audrey along with their families. Tears are not for our mother, we know that she�s with God. Our tears are for the loss we feel that time will not erase.
