Obituary of Fred Schien

Harold Frederick �Fred� Schien, age 77, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home. Fred lost his 7 year courageous battle with Colon Cancer. Fred was born March 11, 1936 in Springfield, Illinois, a son of Harold Merritt and Evelyn Adele (Frederick) Schien. He married Anita Gay Steininger on July 19, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri who survives. Fred is also survived by five children, known as the �5 K�s�, Karen Harris and husband Roger, of Barry, Illinois, Karla Schien of Tampa, Florida, Kent Schien and wife Carol (Borrowman), of Chesterfield, Missouri, Kristy Struble and husband Michael, of Tampa, Florida, and Kurt Schien and wife Carol (Stumborg) of Lake Ozark, Missouri. He is survived by three sisters, Jo Anne Swart of Scottsdale, Arizona, Joyce Kramer and husband Paul, of New Berlin, Illinois, and Jackie Carey and husband Paul, of Springfield, Illinois; brothers-in-law Ronald Steininger and wife Sharon (Saint) of Las Vegas, Nevada and David Steininger and wife Robin (Whaley), of Burton, Kentucky. Fred is also survived by nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and ten step-great-grandchildren. Fred had an uplifting smile and spirit that everyone enjoyed being around which included his family, friends and business associates. He was a natural salesman and was enthusiastic about going to work every day. Whether he was selling Revlon Cosmetics, semi-trucks, real estate or hitting you up for a charitable donation, he was living in his element. His father, Harold M. Schien owned a Sealtest Franchise and was Fred�s first employer. At 12 years old, Fred�s father taught him to drive an 18 wheeler so he could make milk delivery to all of the local stores. Fred loved life and was always positive and he never met a stranger. He loved being a volunteer at Lake Regional Hospital Cancer Center in Osage Beach.
