Obituary of Lydia Ward

Lydia Ward, age 99 1/2, of Osage Beach, Missouri departed this life on July 3, 2013 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Lydia was born January 1, 1914 on a farm near Pierce, Nebraska, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Silhacek) Kruntorad. She attended a rural Pierce country school and graduated from Pierce High School in May 1930. In September 1936, she married Verle Ward of Foster, Nebraska and they lived on a farm until Verle�s passing in October, 1958. After Verle�s passing, she moved to Plainview, Nebraska and later, to be near her daughter, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska, St. Charles, Illinois, and finally Osage Beach, Missouri in 2000. Lydia worked part time at a bakery and later as a babysitter. In her younger years, she loved embroidery and sewing, and made many of her own clothes. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking. In her later years, her favorite pastime was watching cooking shows and game shows on TV. Aside from her husband Verle, Lydia was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. Lydia is survived by her daughter, Miriam Tyrcha and husband, Tim, of Osage Beach, Missouri; her niece Janet and husband, Al Papp, of Omaha, Nebraska; her niece Sally Gruidel of Omaha, Nebraska; and her nephew James Gruidel, of Lexington, Nebraska. She also has many great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pierce, Nebraska.
