Obituary of Clara Catherine Rhodes

Clara Catherine Rhodes, age 88, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away Wednesday July 10, 2013 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Mrs. Rhodes was born February 15, 1925 in Mapleton, Iowa the daughter of Joseph & Catherine Schleis. On February 13, 1950, Clara married Sumner Rhodes. Mrs. Rhodes is survived by her husband Sumner, their children Sandra West and her husband Greg of Lake Ozark, Missouri; Timothy Rhodes; Cindy Broswell; and Roger Rhodes and his wife Kristin of Lake Ozark, Missouri. She is survived by her sister Helen Kilker and her brother Edward Schleis. Other survivors include seven grandchildren: Nicholas Broswell, Jennifer West, Megan Ballweber, Krystal Scott, Kimberly Broswell, Alexis Rhodes and Haley Rhodes; and three great grandchildren: Lauren, Shelby & Lillian Broswell. Clara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In the early years she and her husband owned a service station in Hollywood, California. They later moved and owned a cafeteria in the State Capitol in Lincoln, Nebraska. Eventually they made their way to Lake of the Ozarks and had a few restaurants on the Lake Ozark Strip. She was a parishioner and choir member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. She loved to bake; her specialty was apple pies and loved spending time with family. She was such a special lady and will be deeply missed by all.
