Obituary of James Joseph Homm

James Joseph Homm, age 78, of Osage Beach, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, August 2, 2013 at his home in Osage Beach, Missouri. "Papa Joe" was born April 4, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri, the Son of Joseph and Marie Homm. Joseph moved with his Father to Romania until the age of 18. He worked many jobs including helping his Father on his vineyard. Learning many new languages and cultures, Joe moved back to St. Louis in the summer of 1953. It was there he worked for International Shoe and as a Sheet Welder. It was also there he met the Love of his life Annelie Ehling. Joseph was united in marriage on November 14, 1959 in Lake Ozark, Missouri, to Annelie at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Together they shared 54 years together before his death. "Papa Joe" and Annelie both worked at "Jo Jo's Sweet Shop" later renamed "Jo Jo's" before purchasing the business from the family in 1962. Joseph and Annelie owned and operated Restaurants in Osage Beach over a span of 51 years, which included "Jo Jo's", "The Eldorado Motor Lodge and Restaurant", "Papa Joes @ Grand Glaize Shopping Center", "Papa Joes @ The Rafters", "Papa Joes Oak Tree Inn" and "City Grill and the Blue Room". He was a devout Catholic attending Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at a near flawless attendance record. He was a member of the Linn Creek/Osage Beach Lions Club for many years donating his time cooking in the kitchen for guests and members. He was also a member of the Deutsche Maennerchor of St. Louis as well as a "Regular" at many of the Deutsch Dances in and around the St. Louis area. Papa Joe and Annelie also hosted many "Octoberfests" at their restaurants and at the Lions Club celebrating their European heritage. "Papa Joe" was a Man of honor, integrity, class, heart, and had work ethic skills second to none. He loved his family and friends very much as it showed every time you spent any time with him. He loved singing and dancing with wife Annelie, his family and many of his life long friends. He loved socializing with all of his customers and often told many of his charming stories. He left an ever lasting impression on everyone that he has ever called friend. It was an honor and privilege to know him and to Love him. We all will forever miss the Man they call "Papa Joe". Joseph is survived by his loving wife Annelie; his children JoAnna and husband Gordy Glen, of Osage Beach; Kenneth, of Osage Beach; Marianne, of Osage Beach; Dana and husband Andy Kuntz, of Springfield, MO.; and Joseph Jr. and Stepheny Pasewark of Osage Beach. Joseph is also survived by Grand Children; Kristen, Daniel, Leigha, Colyer, Tatum, Toni, Christian and Rykin, and Great Grandchildren Kelian and Isaiah. Papa Joe would also want to include his wonderful extended family and his many wonderful friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Marie, and his second child Daniel, "Danny Boy�.
