Obituary of Nella Fay Newton

Nella Fay Newton, age 93, of Macks Creek, Missouri went home to heaven on Monday, August 12, 2013 at her daughters home in Macks Creek, Missouri. Fay Newton was born August 27, 1919 in Macks Creek, Missouri, the daughter of Alec and Elsie (Osborn) Meads. She married Ross McConnell Newton on May 20, 1939 and to this union they had two children: Lanny Ross Newton and Helen May Peavey and husband Walter Peavey. Fays family continued to expand with the addition of two granddaughters: Stephanie Ann Hurt and husband Jacob, Tiffany Anne Willis and husband Joe. Fay found Jesus and was saved at a young age. She was a long-time and proud member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she made many of her friends. Fay lived on and enjoyed tending the farm that her family had homesteaded and has owned since 1834. She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her livestock and her pets. She was known for growing beautiful flowers and a plentiful vegetable garden, of which she loved to share with her friends and neighbors. Fay was an amazing cook and enjoyed hosting guests in her home. It would have been a rarity for anyone to leave Fays home hungry. Fay loved the nature and the outdoors. She frequently admired the hills surrounding her home and the adjacent Big Niangua River. Her love of the outdoors was one of the greatest gifts she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Fay was very proud that she attended the Pleasant Grove School through the eighth grade and completed her education by graduating from Camdenton High School in 1939. Her love touched the lives of many, family and friend alike, and her memory will not soon fade away. We know that, even if she is not here with us in earthly body, she continues to watch us and love us from her place in glory in Heaven. Fay was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and son-in-law. She was also preceded in death by her brother Ray Meads, her brother Ralph Meads and wife Ruth (Whitworth) Meads, and her sister Maye (Meads) Jackson and husband Burley Jackson.
