Obituary of James Junior Harris

James Junior Harris, was born October 22, 1925 in Polk County, Missouri. On September 7, 2013 James passed away at the age of 87, peacefully, after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of William A. and Pearl Harris. James married Genieva Warren on September 6, 1947 in Buffalo, Missouri. They celebrated 66 years of marriage. James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Genieva; two sons, James Warren Harris of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Dr. William Kevin Harris and wife, Laura, of Washington, Missouri; two grandsons Capt. Kevin R. Harris and wife, Heather, of North Carolina and Kyle J. Harris of Palm Beach, Florida; two nieces Joy Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Paulette Andrews of Springfield, Missouri; two nephews Paul Mashburn, Jr., of Columbia, Missouri and Jeff Harris, of Scottsdale, Arizona. James is preceded in death by his father and mother William A. and Pearl Harris; one sister Velma Mashburn; and one brother Dudley Harris; his grandparents Mark and Amanda Richards and David Monroe and Molly Harris. James served his country proudly in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He was in the 254th Infantry/63rd division. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for �acts of heroism in a combat zone.� He owned and operated Harris Interiors, a Camdenton icon, for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a 50 plus year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine. James was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting and had made many elk hunting excursions to Colorado. He loved riding his tractor and mower and did so until the age of 87.
