Obituary of George Nuburn Smith

George Nuburn Smith, age 81, of Macks Creek, Missouri, died Thursday, October 24, 2013 in Knoxville, Tennessee. George was born June 30, 1932 in Statesville, Tennessee, the son of George and Imogene (Lewis) Smith. George was united in marriage September 6, 1953 to Joan West, in Tunas, Missouri and together they shared 58 years of marriage until Joan�s death on December 8, 2011. In August 18, 1964 George joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 21 years. He retired in June 30, 1971, obtaining the rank of SMSgt- E8. After retiring from the military, he went into Real Estate as a Broker. George loved to raise exotic animals, do grafting, oil painting, gardening, and fishing. He was proud to have his Tennessee Free hunting and fishing license. George worked in the Prison ministry with Bill Glass Ministries. George taught at church and loved to share his knowledge on many different topics. He served as a member of the Executive Board of Baptist General Convention of Texas. George was active in the Chamber of Commerce, Task Force Development Council, and the Zoning Commission all in Southside San Antonio, Texas. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. George is survived by his son, Reverend Mike Smith and his wife Ivana of Knoxville, Tennessee; one brother Myron Smith and his wife Joyce of Lebanon, Tennessee; two sister�in-laws, Phyllis Smith of Bismarck, North Dakota and Nelda Smith of Camden, Arkansas; two grandchildren; Casey and his wife Molley, Pekin, Illionis, and Evan Smith, Knoxville, Tennessee, one great- grandchildren Greyson; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, his parents, and his twin brothers Eldon and Edwin, and many dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
