Obituary of Larry T. Whitworth

Larry T. Whitworth, age 74, of Macks Creek, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at his home. He was born October 16, 1939 near Tunnel Dam, the son of Dock and Edith (McClanahan) Whitworth, little brother to Janie Sue. He married Betty Gale Hodge, January 12, 1957 in Richland, Missouri. They were married over 56 years and raised their family on their farm in Macks Creek. There were three children born to this union, Lynn, D�Ann and Susan. Larry was saved as a child while attending church camp one summer. He loved sports of all kinds and was often found watching sports on television. He also enjoyed playing cards spending time with his friends and family. He loved driving around on the family farm and looking at his cattle. When he was younger he liked to fish and hunt; he made a few trips to Colorado Elk hunting. Larry enjoyed traveling, mostly pulling their 5th wheel around to different parks and casinos, frequently going to Las Vegas and Tunica. Larry was a devoted husband, Father, Grandfather and friend. When the grandkids were young they spent a lot of weekends with Grandpa and Nano. They could always count on Grandpa taking them to the �candy store.� It is a very fond memory they will always treasure. He was always someone you could count on when the going got tough. Larry had a dairy farm that he operated for several years. After he quit the dairy he ran stock cattle for many years and drove a school bus. He suffered several years with his illness and his devoted wife, Betty cared for him with compassion and love. Surviving are his wife, Betty (Hodge) Whitworth, one son, Lynn Whitworth and two daughters, D�Ann Hawkins and Susan Willis along with her husband Danny, all of Macks Creek, Missouri; one sister, Janie Sue Henderson and her husband Harold of Bolivar, Missouri; four grandchildren, Brooke Wolfe and her husband Josh of Climax Springs, Casey Cox and her husband Zach of Urbana, Holly Webster and her husband Joe of Macks Creek and Tyler Willis of Macks Creek; three great grandchildren, Abigale, Ava and Cooper Wolfe of Climax Springs. He had several nieces and nephews along with many friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Edith Whitworth; one sister Rosemary Elliott; and one beloved grandson, Jim Hawkins.
