Obituary of Ashley Monnig Burns

Ashley Marie Monnig-Burns, daughter of Michael Leo Monnig and Sharon Marie Monnig, was born on January 18, 1984 in Osage Beach, Missouri and departed this life on November 30, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Geneva Monnig, her maternal grandparents, Vernon and Marie Stamper, and her cousin Connor Stamper. Survivors include her beautiful daughter, Sadie Marie Burns of the home; Sadie�s father Robert Burns of Linn Creek, Missouri, and his daughter Chelsea of the home; loving parents, Michael Monnig and Sharon Monnig of Camdenton, Missouri; two brothers, Brandon Monnig and wife Cira of Springfield, Missouri, and Brian Monnig, of Camdenton, Missouri; niece Geneva Monnig of Springfield, Missouri; nephew Connor Clement of Springfield, Missouri, and a host of many other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Ashley was raised in Camdenton, Missouri and graduated from Camdenton High School. She then attended the University of Missouri- Columbia and Columbia College earning her B.A. in psychology with minors in both sociology and criminal justice. She was currently working on earning her MA from Webster University in Rolla specializing in Professional Mental Health Counseling. She held a 3.95 grade point average and was proudly on track to have earned that degree in May of 2015. She was extremely excited and eager to begin putting her education to good use in assisting in the community. During the time in which Ashley was receiving her degree work she was very passionate about making both her community and the world around her a better place. She served her community as a detention staff member for four years at the Mary Dickerson Juvenile Justice Center from 2008 until 2012. During this time she assisted juvenile offenders by helping to counsel and rehabilitate them during their detention. She was also an active regional committee member of the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) designed to support the Casey Foundation�s vision that all youth involved in the juvenile justice system have opportunities to develop into healthy and productive adults. Previously Ashley served as a Community Support Specialist and Children�s Case Manager for Pathway�s Behavioral Health in Camdenton, Missouri and Eldon, Missouri. During this time in her life Ashley was tasked with collaborating with therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, and medical doctors to do home and school visits weekly to ensure effective implementation of individual treatment plans for those in need in her community. Prior to this she worked as Children�s Division Caseworker for the Miller County Division of Family Services conducting very similar work. Ashley�s enjoyments in life were simple. The thing she enjoyed most was spending time with her daughter Sadie. She also enjoyed outdoor activities like arrowhead hunting, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, and swimming. She was an avid bible reader and loved bible study with friends. She had committed her life faithfully to Christ, her Lord and Savior.
