Obituary of Robert Earl Metz
Robert (Bob) Earl Metz, Sr., age 76, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri surrounded by loved ones.
Bob was born December 16, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Alfred Henry and Lorna Louise (Carnahan) Metz.
Bob proudly served his country in United States Air Force for 4 years, followed by service in the National Guard and Naval Reserves.
Bob was united in marriage to Patricia Sweeny on September 29, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri, and together they had shared 51 years of marriage until his death.
Bob made a career as an Aircraft Electrician working for McDonnell Douglas Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri for 34 years. Upon his retirement Bob moved to Lake of the Ozarks, and enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and riding motorcycles. Bob was a member of the N.R.A. and an active member of VFW Post #50 in Eldon, Missouri. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Ozark.
Bob raised his sons and grandchildren to be good and happy people. He was a �teacher� of many things, and taught his grandchildren to take it slow and not to rush through life. He took great pride in teaching his family firearm safety. He was an outstanding man who cared for everyone. In times of need he would be the first to step up and help. Bob was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law, mentor and friend who will be remembered as the most amazing man and the best grandpa ever by his family and those who knew him and loved him. All who knew Bob saw him as a role model and he could always be seen smiling.
Bob is survived by his wife Patricia of the home; two sons, Robert Metz, Jr. and his fianc� Robyn Weeks, of St. Louis, Missouri and Richard Metz and wife, Jennifer, of Union, Missouri; one sister Carolyn Yager and husband, John, of Washington, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jessica Renee Campbell and husband, Dustin, Richard Metz, Jr., and Nancy Patricia Metz; along with several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Lorna Metz; and one brother, Dan.
Inurnment will be at Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Veterans Wall Memorial, Osage Beach, Missouri.
