Obituary of Melba J. Hogland

Melba J. Hogland, age 84, of Linn Creek, Missouri, departed this life Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Springfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Springfield, Missouri. Melba was born April 15, 1930 in Leachville, Arkansas, the daughter of Paschal and Katie (Bishoff) Maynard. Melba was united in marriage August 15, 1946 in Leachville, Arkansas to Loal Hogland, and together they had shared the past 67 years of marriage until his death. Melba was a loving and devoted wife and helpmate to her husband Loal. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker, and helped to create many beautiful memories for her family and friends. She enjoyed fishing and traveling, and swinging on the back porch. More than anything though, Melba loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Melba was a member of Walk On The Water Faith Church in Osage Beach where she served on many committees. As a young child, Melba had won a Shirley Temple Look-A-Like contest. Melba is survived by; one son, Loal Gene Hogland, Jr. and wife, Gayle, of Fair Grove, Missouri; one daughter Barbara Lee Howdeshell and husband, Steve, of St. Charles, Missouri; one sister; Barbara Ann Jolliff, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Loal, parents Paschal and Katie Maynard; two brothers, Robert and Douglas Maynard and one granddaughter.
