Obituary of Gerald W. Tarr

Gerald W. Tarr Sr., age 84, of Osage Beach, Missouri, departed this life Sunday, August 10, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at his home. Gerald was born September 30, 1929, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Carl and Lyda (Tuxhorn) Tarr. Gerald attended both grade school and high school in Tovey, Illinois. He was married to Shirley Cline in 1949. She preceded him in death in 2000. Gerald farmed for many years and later worked at Berry Fertilizer Company. He loved to travel, visit family and was an accomplished carpenter. He enjoyed his garden club and playing games with friends. Gerald was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Lake Ozark, Missouri. In August 2001 he married Nellie Jo Hasselbring who survivors, along with his six children; Gerald W Tarr, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Annette La Brecque and husband Bruce of Champaign, Ill, Deborah Tank of Springfield, Illinois, Rodney Tarr of Rochester, Illinois, Larry Tarr and wife Sue of Vero Beach, Florida, and Kathy Walker and husband Mark of Rochester, Illinois; four stepchildren, Kurt Hasselbring and wife Jeanie of Osage Beach, Missouri, Kris Hasselbring and wife Ann of Houston, Texas, Joy Bengles and husband Pete of Springfield, Illinois, and Jane Locasico and husband Phil of Springfield, Illinois, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; along with several other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Lyda Tarr; his sister Marcie Jacobs; his brother Carl Tarr; and granddaughters Rachel Tank and Allison Tarr.
