Obituary of Iris Lea Carnahan

Iris Lea Stafford Carnahan, 79, of Macks Creek, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in Macks Creek. She was born September 5, 1935 in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of Cora Smiley Stafford and Faron Alton Stafford. She was united in marriage to Billy Joe Carnahan in Linn Creek, Missouri, on February 15, 1953 and to this union three children were born. Iris was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother and a true friend. She was a devout Christian and a lifelong member of the RLDS Church. Early in their marriage, Iris traveled to Germany with Billy Joe while he served in the Air Force. For over 50 years she and B.J. ran several successful businesses. She also worked as secretary for the Camden County Public Water Supply District Number 1 at Macks Creek for many years. She shared the love of music, travel and family with her husband. She is survived by her son, Judd Lee Carnahan and wife Brenda; two daughters, Sheila Jo Kinney and husband Don and Linda Sue Deckard; three sisters, Donna Cruce and husband, Ward, Lyla Pack and husband Larry and Eva Tucker and husband Dale; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe; her parents; her brother Wayne Zumwalt; her granddaughter Kortnie Deckard; and her son-in-law Brad Deckard. Iris was deeply loved and will be greatly missed!
