Obituary of William E. Conn

William E. Conn, Jr. of Lake Ozark, Missouri passed away at his home on Sunday, September 14. He was 49 years old. Billy was born and raised in Mt. Tabor, NJ. It was evident from an early age that Billy loved cars and machines as he was often found building go-carts or working on cars. He left New Jersey in 1984, joining the United States Navy as a fighter jet mechanic stationed in Norfolk, VA. While in Virginia, he met and married his wife Carol. Together they had two children, Rebecca and Kenneth, and relocated to the Lake Ozark, Missouri region over 20 years ago. Billys love of engines and machinery lead him to many of the local marinas where he worked as a mechanic and service manager. Billys greatest joys in life were his two children and his three grandchildren. He loved spending time with his son dirt bike riding, restoring cars, or working on any project that he and Kenneth could do together. They could often be found tinkering with an engine in their garages. He also found great happiness in watching his daughter, Rebecca, grow into a fine young woman and mother. He was so proud to see her so successful in the US Army where she served in Afghanistan. Upon her departure from the Army, she began her family and he and Carol often traveled to visit Rebecca, Joseph, his son-in-law, and his grandchildren. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and was a very gentle, kind-hearted man who was loved by all. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Mailahn) of Lake Ozark, daughter Rebecca and her husband Joseph Kurth of Gainesville, FL, son Kenneth Conn and fianc Alexis Keeney of Eldon, MO, sister Elizabeth Conn and fianc Thomas Sheridan of Morris Plains, NJ, grandchildren Riley (5), Serenity (2), and Levi (7 months), and his mother-in-law Lucille Mailahn of Lake Ozark, and his cousins, extended family members, and friends. He is predeceased by his mother Virginia Conn of Mt. Tabor, NJ and father-in-law Donald Mailahn of Lake Ozark, MO.
