Obituary of Mary M. Carnahan

Mary M. Carnahan, age 88, of Camdenton, Missouri, departed this life Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Mary was born September 2, 1926 in Monroe County, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Nalevanko) Bennett. Mary was united in marriage on December 15, 1944 in Amarillo, Texas to Dwight Carnahan and together they shared 69 years of marriage until her death. Mary was a loving and devoted wife and helpmate to her husband Dwight and a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who helped create many beautiful memories for her family and friends. Mary had worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and in years past was a Cub Scout Leader while her boys were young. She loved spending time outdoors enjoying the beauty of flowers and birds, and truly enjoyed spending time getting to know people. More than anything, Mary loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Even while battling Alzheimer�s, she said everyday �it�s a beautiful day.� Mary was a member of Camdenton United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Dwight, of the home; her sons, Robert �Bob� Carnahan and wife Diane, of Valparaiso, Nebraska, Douglas Carnahan and wife Marlene of Lee�s Summit, Missouri, Tim Carnahan, and wife, Debbie, of Camdenton, Missouri, Jeff Carnahan and wife, Dawn, of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri; her daughter Sandy O�Leary and husband, Brian, of Springfield, Missouri; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; as well as other family members and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Anna Bennett, her son Phillip Carnahan; her daughters Patricia Cumper and Diane Carnahan; and her sisters Ginny Stewart, Charlotte Doty, and Betty Pelzer. The family would like to thank Laurie Care Center for the excellent care given to Mary during her time there.
