Obituary of John H. Montesano

John H. Montesano, age 83, of Stover, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2014 at his residence in Stover. John was born August 22, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Joseph and Lena (Chiota) Montesano. He was united in marriage November, 1978 to Patricia �Pat� Sartin who preceded him in death October 26, 2006. They had shared 32 years of marriage at the time of her death. John was a career firefighter with the Kansas City Fire Department retiring after 27 years of service. He also co-owned and operated John and Pat�s Oasis in Rich Hill, Missouri with his wife Pat. In his spare time, John enjoyed wood carving, cooking, traveling, and playing cards. John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories shared with family and friends. John is survived by three sons, Robert J. Montesano of Forsyth, Missouri, John Montesano of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Robert Fitzpatrick of Butler, Missouri; two daughters, Gina L. Montesano of Stone Mt., Georgia, and Sharon Fitzpatrick of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Frank Montesano and wife Marion, of Gravois Mills, Missouri; one sister, Genivie Mayfield of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandchildren Bobbiejo Parker, Jeremy Parker, Brandi Vanenburg, Anthony Kuone, Chris Kuone, Taylor Montesano, Alexa Montesano, Asa Fitzpatrick, Ashley Fitzpatrick Wyatt, Aaron Javardi, Robert Fitzpatrick, Jr., and Joshua Fitzpatrick; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; along with several other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lena Montesano; four brothers, Santo, Joseph, Sam, and Vince; two sisters, Rose Howell and Madeline Hackett; and one grandson Adam Coonce (2007).
