Obituary of Desta Curtright Gant

Desta (Destie) Willeta Curtright Gant, age 93, departed this life Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, Missouri. Destie was born December 30, 1920 to Carmen and Leah Louella (Kindle) Curtright, at Cable Ridge, Missouri. She was married to Lewis Donald Owsley September 8, 1938. She had three children, Carol Katholene Johnston, James Lewis Owsley, and Danny Gene Owsley. She had six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Destie grew up around the Climax Springs area and moved to Jordan (Cross Timbers) area to raise her family. She moved to Windsor, Missouri in 1957 where she finished raising her children. She was employed at International Shoe Company in Windsor for 28 years, and retired in 1983. She moved to Greenview, and then to Linn Creek, Missouri. She was a hard worker who loved her family dearly, always putting them first and always doing for someone else. In her spare time Destie enjoyed quilting, (making over 100 quilts), sewing, doing crafts and reading her Bible. She was a member of Green Ridge Baptist Church in Climax Springs, Missouri. Destie is survived by her daughter-in-law Pat Owsley and families; her daughter Katholene Johnston and families; and her son Danny Owsley and wife, Brenda, and families; her four siblings, Lettie Vogel of Kansas City, Missouri, Ida and Herman Durmeyer of Kansas City, Missouri, Leland and Bobbie Curtright of Hermitage, Missouri, and Clayton and Ginny Curtright of Shawnee Mission, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Donald Owsley, and second husband, Ervin Gant; her parents Carmen and Leah Louella Curtright; her siblings Odean Curtright, Riley Curtright, Doyal Curtright and Sanford who died as an infant; her son, James Lewis Owsley; and a son-in-law Ralph Hix.
