Obituary of Gerald L. McCrary

Gerald Laddie McCrary, age 90, of Rocky Mount, Missouri, departed this life Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Lakeside Meadows Retirement Center, Osage Beach, Missouri. Gerald was born December 22, 1924 in Springfield, Colorado, the son of Louis McCrary and Pearl (Kirkpatrick) McCrary. Gerald was united in marriage November 22, 1945 in Bell Gardens, California, to Ruth Hoffman and together they shared 69 years of marriage until his death. Gerald served his country proudly in the United States Navy as Storekeeper First Class and was honorably discharged in 1946. Gerald was a hard worker who built custom homes for many years before retiring to the Lake of the Ozarks. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, as well as trail-bike riding, and riding his snowmobile. He enjoyed watching sports and was known to be both a Denver Broncos fan and Atlanta Braves fan. More than anything, Gerald loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Gerald was a member of Our Faith Family Church in Kaiser, Missouri. Gerald is survived by his loving wife Ruth; one son, Michael McCrary and wife, Marie, of Bennett, Colorado; one daughter Becky Kaliszewski and husband, Ed, of Rocky Mount, Missouri; one adopted son, Steve Ogg and girlfriend Vicky Cudd of Rock Hill, South Carolina; one brother Marvin McCrary and wife, Louise, of Eads, Colorado; one sister Virginia Allen of Hudson, Colorado; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; along with several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Pearl McCrary; one daughter Claudia Clement; two brothers, Claude and Wayne; and three sisters, Oletha Buzzard, Noveda Forshee, and Doris Allen.
