Obituary of Betty Rose Bass
Betty (or to some, Bets or Betsie), age 75, resident of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. died Wednesday April 29, 2015 at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
Betty was born on October 10, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of Rosella and Lyman York.
Throughout her lifetime, Betty served many people with her humanitarian efforts in childcare ranging from running a daycare to foster parenting to midnight shifts counseling �runaway� children at the Youth Emergency Services (YES) Center in St. Louis, Mo. Betty�s strong love of the Lord has been a key factor in bringing many of her family members and friends into the Kingdom of God. She is loved by many and will always be remembered for her dedication to family and friends.
Betty is survived by her brother Kenneth York and sister-in-law Joan York of Washington, Mo., her aunt Vera Mungia(Medley) and cousin Bruce Mungia of Memphis, Tn.,cousin and best friend Gerry Hardin (Thomas) of West Point, Ms., her son Daniel Arthur Scott and daughter-in-law Jacquelyne Ann Scott of St. Louis, Mo., her daughters Elizabeth Rose Stark (Scott) and son-in-law Roger Stark of Brumley, Mo., and Cynthia Rose Gonnella (Fowler) and son-in-law Michael James Gonnella of Brumley, Mo. Betty is also survived by her grandsons James Daniel Scott, Wesley Allen Bowling, Christian Michael Gonnella, Anthony Donald Grider, and her granddaughters Jamie Ann Walters (Gonnella), Heather Rose Bowling, Barbara Rose Gonnella, Timbre Rose Gonnella, and Aubrie Rose Gonnella. Finally, Betty is survived by her great-grandsons William Bowling, Johnathan McClain, Landon Walters, her great-granddaughter Kylee Walters, another great-grandchild on the way, and her ex-husband Albert H. Bass.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Lyman York and Rosella York (Medley)of LeMay, Missouri, her uncle William (Bill) Mungia of San Antonio, Tx., aunt Wanda Pontious (York) of LeMay, Mo., aunt Lucille Thomas (York) of LeMay, Mo., cousin Bobbie Jones (Thomas) of St. Louis, Mo., uncle JoeMedley of Nashville, Tn., and granddaughter Christina Lea Scott of St. Louis, Mo.
Betty was a member of Walk on the Water Faith Church where a Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on June 27th at10:00am, located at 959 Nichols Road, Osage Beach, MO. 65065 573-348-9777, followed by a gathering of family and friends fellowship afternoon.
