Obituary of Harold W. Gentry

Harold W. Gentry, age 74, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Harold was born May 9, 1941 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Willard James Gentry and Sarah May (Reynolds) Gentry. Harold was united in marriage August 14, 1965 in North Kansas City, Missouri, to Carol Cheney. Together they shared nearly 50 years of marriage until his death. Harold graduated from St. Joseph Benton High School in 1959. He later attended N.W. Missouri State University where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. After graduating, Harold worked as a math teacher and coach at Hickman Mills School District in Kansas City, MO and later owned and operated Point Breeze Resort, in Osage Beach, MO. Harold was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Big Creek Gun Club of Blairstown, Missouri. More than anything, Harold was a family man. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending every minute he could with them. Harold is survived by his wife Carol; two daughters, Sherri Lynn Gula and husband, Shane, of Blue Springs, Missouri and Debra Jo Hanf of Paola, Kansas; one brother, Elmer and his wife, Pat, of St. Joseph, Missouri; one sister, Doris Chappell and husband, Dale, of St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandchildren, Blaine and Brayden Hanf; along with several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Sarah Gentry; one infant daughter Marci; and one sister, Flora Mae Simmons.
