Jeanette Hauser

Obituary of Jeanette Katherine Hauser

Jeanette Katherine Hauser passed away peacefully August 18, 2015 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Jeanette was born September 8, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Robert and Gertrude Hauser. She grew up in Shrewsbury and as a young girl she loved visiting the family farm near Ironton, Missouri with her older brothers, Joe and Bob (deceased) and sister Char (deceased). Her father, whom she adored, died unexpectedly when she was only 18, breaking her heart. Even into her 70’s talking about his death brought tears to her eyes. After graduating from Lutheran High, she and her mother made a summer trip to Europe, which she never forgot. While attending Webster College she met her future husband, Richard Greubel, who was home on Navy leave. He was attracted to her beautiful smile, gorgeous red hair and wonderful sense of humor. Together they had three children, Rick (Ellen), Gary (Nancy) & Jeanne and moved to Lake of the Ozarks in the 70’s. It was a stormy marriage to say the least and ended after 23 years. They were better divorced than married and became friends again during the last years of his life. Jeanette was the Mom with the house where all the kids hung out. She made great BBQ and yummy chocolate chip cookies. She had nine grandchildren: Brian, Elisa, Nolan, Lauren, Kate, Joe, Becky, Britta and Kody. Plus two great-grandchildren, Blakely and Skylar. She never missed one of their birthdays or graduations and always sent the sweetest cards. Jeanette loved them all dearly but they all knew she had a special place in her heart for Kody, with whom she shared her home for the past 15 years. Jeanette had two wonderful long time girlfriends in Carol Porterfield and Ramona Kelly with whom she laughed and cried. She loved tending to her flowers and feeding the hundreds birds that visited her deck at the Lake. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother Joe plus many nieces and nephews. Jeanette was a kind, gentle and caring person. She always put others ahead of herself. We will miss her dearly.
