Obituary of Thomas W. Polson

Thomas W. (Tom) Polson, age 66, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri after a long battle with cancer. Tom was born February 15, 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Warren (deceased) and Yvette Polson, and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa along with two younger brothers, Pete and Lloyd and three younger sisters, Ginger, Sheila and Christine. Tom was united in marriage to Beatrice (Bea) Harris on December 17, 1982 and he was soon transferred by Ryder to Chicago, Illinois where they lived for many years. Together they shared 32 wonderful years at the time of his passing. Tom worked for Ryder Truck Rentals as Maintenance manager for 35 years before retiring and moving with Bea to Osage Beach, Missouri in 2002. Working was the thing most enjoyable to Tom and in 2006 he had the opportunity to work for Jane Martin at Scott's Concrete in Camdenton, Missouri ,maintaining their truck fleet and making many good friends. Most that met Tom made an instant friend and he was always just a phone call away when anyone needed help or advice. He will be missed by many. Tom was a born teacher and manager and took delight in doing both. There was very little that Tom couldn't do or fix, and if he didn't know, he would be on the computer, or nose in a book finding out. He never gave up on the Chicago Bears winning season and he loved politics. He never hesitated to express his conservative views and enjoyed drawing others into a conversation, even though he did most of the talking. Most times he greeted you with "What's going on ?" or "How's it going?" He will be missed by all that knew him.
