Obituary of Ray D. Holmes

Ray D. Holmes, age 72, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, departed this life Saturday, August 22, 2015, at his home in Sunrise Beach. Ray was born January 18, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Raymond and Retha (Barber) Holmes. Ray served his country proudly in the United States Army. Ray worked with the Kansas City Public School District for over 30 years as a computer programmer. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing chess, and gambling. Ray is survived by his daughter Celeste Parks of Gravois Mills, Missouri; three brothers, Darrell Kirkman of Collins, Missouri, Clark Kirkman of Polo, Missouri, and Richard Holmes and wife, Theresa, of Fairfax, Virginia; three sisters, Karen VanStratten and husband, Gene, of Buringham, Missouri, Janice Fitzpatrick and husband, John, of Mesa, Arizona, and Bonnie Donald and husband, Joe, of Topeka, Kansas; four grandchildren, Shay Parks, Russell Parks, Devin Parks, and Samantha Parks; along with several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Retha Holmes; and one brother Larry Kirkman.
