Obituary of Ronald N. McCleary

Ronald N. (Ron) McCleary, age 68, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Ron was born August 21, 1947 in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Norvel and Dorothy (Huffman) McCleary. Ron grew up in Iowa and graduated Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and after being honorably discharged, Ron farmed in Iowa. He enjoyed showing cattle and shared his knowledge of farming and cattle with 4-H groups. Ron was a member of the Liberyville Farmers Coop of Libertyville, Iowa. Most recently Ron worked in heavy equipment sales in Eldon, Missouri. Ron was united in marriage May 29, 2010 in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Alana Norem. He loved the Lake of the Ozarks and boating on the lake was one of his favorite things to do. He was an avid gardener and worked with the Gospel Gardeners group through Christ the King Lutheran Church where he was a member. Ron is survived by his wife Alana of the home; sons, Chad McCleary and wife Michelle, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Kurt Norem and wife, Deeann, of Olathe, Kansas, Patrick Norem and wife, Marla, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Lynn Norem and wife, Bonita, of Iowa Falls, Iowa; daughters, Sara Poor and husband, Jeff, of Novelty, Missouri, Ashley Stephens of Kirksville, Missouri, Lindsay McComas and husband, Marcus, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cassie Miller and husband, Levi, of Lake Ozark, Missouri; one sister, Marilyn McCleary of Aurora, Colorado; 27 grandchildren; along with several other relatives and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Norvel and Dorothy McCleary; his former wife, Barb McCleary; and one grandson.
