Obituary of Evelyn Parker

Evelyn Parker, 83, of Nixa, Missouri, left this world to meet her precious Lord and Savior, on Sunday, June 5, 2016. Evelyn was born February 2, 1933 in Cumberland, Kentucky, the second oldest of eleven children to Bill and Lillie Mae (Sargent) Brown. Being the second born of eleven children in the coal mining region of Cumberland, Kentucky, Evelyn was forced to quit school after the eighth grade to help out at home, as did many others in that era. Evelyn was married to proud Marine, Jessie Doyle Parker on September 4, 1953 in Wise, Virginia. They shared nearly 63 years of marriage together at the time of her death. Evelyn and Doyle spent many years in California before they settled in Linn Creek, Missouri, and finally moving to Nixa, Missouri in 2008. Besides her husband, Doyle, Evelyn is survived by two children; Alan Parker and wife, Debbie, of Linn Creek, Missouri and Sharon Holden of Nixa, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brittany Parker, Erica Holden, Lindsay Parker, Jarrett Parker, Kayla Bailey, and Callie Holden; three great-grandchildren, Donovan Parker, Jaymis Parker, and Evelyn Race; two brothers, Raymond Brown and wife, Judy, and Jimmie Brown and wife Melvia: two sisters, Georgia Fortner and husband, Jim, and Jenny Brown; along with several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Lillie Mae Brown; five brothers, Wayne, Darrell, Edward, Donnie and Lonnie; one sister, Imogene Parker; and one great grandson, Trey Holden. Evelyn was a loving and devoted wife and helpmate to her husband, Doyle and a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her children and their families. Evelyn will be remembered as a woman dedicated to her Lord, her husband, and her family. She looked forward to family gatherings and all the cooking and baking involved. She applied God's word by loving unconditionally, treating others fairly, and taking on a true servant's heart.
