Obituary of Iris Cecelia Yelm
Iris Cecelia Yelm, age 79, of Osage Beach, Missouri, left this world on Saturday, July 9, 2016, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 15, 1937, in Howardstown, Kentucky and accompanied her parents to Michigan at age 5. She was the last survivor of fourteen children and was also preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Don Yelm.
Iris was a long time resident of Galesburg, Illinois having worked at Admiral Appliance as well as the Huddle Café where she met the love of her life, Don Yelm. The two married, and together raised Iris’s five children in the house where you could always find the neighborhood kids.
She is survived by her five children, Karen Shawn Jones, and spouse John of Osage Beach, Missouri, Michael Wall, and spouse Kim of Cookville, Tennessee, Andrew Wall and spouse Caroline of Enid, Oklahoma, Christopher Wall and spouse Erika of Galesburg, Illinois, and Stacie Wall of Oquawka, Illinois. She also had nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Her greatest attribute was always being there for her family in all circumstances.
It was Iris’s wish that there be no services. She wished to be cremated and taken back to Howardstown.
In lieu of flowers it was her wish that donations be made to the Hospice of your choice, or to the Galesburg, Illinois animal shelter.
