Legacy. Just saw that Ron Has died.
As a junior high student, I was going thru a rough spot. He served as the pastor in residence at Camp Galilee one of those weeks.
We had lots of talks. He wrote this out and gave it to me. It was probably a small thing. But it's been part of my life since then. I've carried it in my Bible for decades (gasp).
In a way, he was one of my first models for youth and children's ministry. I've tried to model the same carying nature.
Legacy. I'm part of his legacy. (And I know several others from that era are as well.).
Pulled this out tonight and remembering that bench, at Camp Galilee where we sat. And a pastor who took time to talk to a geeky, awkward girl. #lifeofaneditor #grateful
(Signed - the former youth / children's pastor who has returned to the newsroom and now works with students who want to learn journalism skills).

Dear Kay, Jamie, Kirk and families,
We were saddened to learn of Ron's passing. He played such a huge role in my (Lois') life. I am not sure I would have been as active in the church had it not been for him! He was truly in touch with the lives of all the young people in the church back in the '70s! I remember my parents both enjoyed getting to know him. I know how much your hearts are aching right know, but the knowledge that you will see him again is comforting. Our words just cannot express what we are feeling right now, but please take comfort that our hearts, our thought, and our prayers are with you!
Much love,
David and Lois Reitz

Ron's passing was a shock to me since I had received a big hug from both Ron and Kay just several weeks prior to his death. This has made it abundantly clear that we should all make the most of every moment to tell the ones we love how much they mean to us. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, so make the most of today. Thank you Ron for reminding me of that fact!

I thank God for the privilege of knowing His servant Ron Page. Ron was always a supportive influence in my early years of ministry where he and Kay and family attended services regularly at St. Paul's UMC, Fayette, MO. To me a college student, Ron and Kay's home was my "do drop in" for a meal, a laugh, and much encouragement. I will forever remember a snowy Christmas Shopping trip to St. Louis--(A joyous memory) Ron will be missed by all who knew him. Ron there is a crown waiting for you in GLORY for all the people you lead to Christ in your loving compassionate way.
I only bid you farewell FOR NOW, because as you so appropriately lived out before me-- there IS a heaven and I WILL meet you there one day. Take your rest my brother!
Loving Submitted,
Rev. Hadley R. Edwards, Pastor
The Spirit Church UMC, New Orleans, LA

Ron was one of a kind. We loved spending time with he and Kay and being entertained by his wit and humor. We knew him as a wonderful friend that was comfortable in our home, when he came for dinner one evening and sat in our recliner and fell asleep! He was a great teacher, preacher and friend that will truly be missed by many. Peace and love to all the family.
Faithfully,

Ron was a very unique and special person to me. He was like a second father and mentor to me. He helped to bring me to a relationship to the Lord as I was heading down the wrong path. He took me under in my junior high years and was able to take this "mess" as a person and show me the Love of God and how to show and share that love with others. If it was not for him, I probably would have ended up in prison or worse. His sense of humor, his horrible puns, LOL!, will always be remembered. We had some spirited political debates, but I never doubted his love and friendship. To his family, I know this not only a time of sorrow, but of celebration, as Ron is now with our Heavenly Father. My prayers and my friendship go with him and the family. I'm sorry I cannot attend the funeral, but my prayers and thoughts are with all of you. May God bless all of you.
