Obituary of Margaret L. Hanlen

Margaret (Maggie) L. Hanlen died July 14, 2016. Maggie was born in St. Louis, MO on March 28, 1915, daughter of the late Mathias and Anna (Bernard) Schmidt. Maggie’s family later moved to Franklin County, MO where she graduated from Sullivan High School. Maggie was married to Vincent J. Hanlen January 30, 1936. In 1949 she moved to Camdenton, MO and was bookkeeper for the E.B. O’Brien Lumber Company. Maggie moved to Springfield, MO in 1955 and was Business Office Manager for the Smith-Glynn-Callaway Clinic for 27 years. She was also an Associate Member of the Medical Group Management Association. After her retirement from the clinic, she continued to work in bookkeeping and accounting until 2002. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent J. Hanlen, her daughter, Benita Shannon, her son, Patrick J. Hanlen, one sister and six brothers. She is survived by her son-in-law Kerry Shannon of Camdenton, MO, granddaughter, Lynn (Shannon) Buchanan and husband Brent of Lexington, SC, grandson Bill Shannon and wife Brenda of Osage Beach, MO, five great-grandchildren: Eric Buchanan and wife Brittany, Allison Buchanan, Zachary Buchanan and wife Abby, Andrew Shannon, Kaitlyn Shannon and numerous nieces and nephews.
