Obituary of Alan Dale Chamberlin
Alan Dale Chamberlin was born September 9, 1927 in Normal, Illinois to Frederick Dale and Laura Ann (Klemme) Chamberlin.
He spent most of his formative years growing up in Madison, Wisconsin, where he graduated in 1946 from West High School. After high School, Alan enlisted in the Navy. He served during the time between World War II and the Korean War. Upon leaving the Navy, Alan attended the University Of Wisconsin and was active in Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
Alan began working for Milprint Packaging Company, starting first as a janitor and secretary and then convincing his father, one of the founders of the company, that he would make a great salesman. Alan was transferred in 1954, to Davenport Iowa, where he met his wife, Carolyn Jean Klise. They were married August 20, 1955. Alan and Carolyn enjoyed a long, happy marriage until her death in 2003. Alan also sold commercial real estate in Madison, St. Louis and at the Lake of the Ozarks.
He is survived by his three children, Lauren (Mark) Struthers, St. Joseph, MO; Aaron, Encinitas, CA; and Anne (Rob) Collura, Charlotte, NC. Alan's four grand children survive him; Libby (Jason Porter) Struthers, Portland, OR, Hannah Struthers, St. Joseph, MO and Daniel and Michael Chamberlin, Encinitas, California. In 2005, Alan married Betty Bennett Rosenhoover, who survives him of the home.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lois Bjerk.
Alan enjoyed his family, his faith and his dog, Molly. He will be missed for his quiet and quirky sense of humor.
