Obituary of Dorothy Earline Riley

Dorothy Earline Riley, age 87, of Macks Creek, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 16 ,2016 at Colonial Springs Care Center in Buffalo, Missouri. Dorothy was born November 14, 1928 in Ft. Scott, Kansas, the daughter of Oral and Lovena (Jolliff) Cline. She was united in marriage June 26, 1948 in Miami, Oklahoma to Warren Riley who preceded her in death in April 1996. Dorothy and her husband Warren, owned Liberty Sod Company in Liberty, Missouri for many years before retiring to Macks Creek in 1973. She also worked as a legal secretary for Liberty Law firm and as secretary for the Clay County Sheriff. Dorothy was a long-time and very active member of First Baptist Church in Macks Creek where she taught Sunday school and in earlier years enjoyed taking mission trips with the Youth groups. She was an active member of the Macks Creek community where she started the" Old Time Picnic", and in her spare time Dorothy enjoyed crochet, quilting and oil painting. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, and a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her children and their families. Dorothy's legacy will live on in the hearts of her family. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Warren (Bud) Riley, Jr and wife Judy, of Macks Creek, Missouri and Paul Riley and wife, Joyce, of Harrisonville, Missouri; seven daughters, Cheryl Richards and husband, Ronald, of Macks Creek, Missouri, Connie Leach of Urbana, Missouri, Jane Wolfe of Wheatland, Missouri, Lorita Taylor of Freeman, Missouri, Shirley Millershaski of Cimmaron, Kansas, Carol Chavarria of Thatcher, Arizona, and Doris Wetherill and husband, Bill, of Roach, Missouri; one sister, Vesta Halloway of Oroville, California; thirty granchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Oral and Lovena Cline; her husband, Warren; four brothers, Ed, Bill, Bob and George; one sister; Shirlene Price and two grandchildren.
