Obituary of Dan Scism Edwards, Sr

Dan Scism Edwards Sr., age 91 of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Care in Osage Beach, Missouri. Dan was born June 29, 1925 in Bloomfield, Missouri, the son of Clint and Pearl Edwards. Dan graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1942 and later earned his Associate Degree in Business Administration. Dan served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the military after 20 years of service. His working career in business included Burroughs Corporation as a Computer Field Supervisor, Kelley Chevrolet as Service Manager, City of Fort Wayne, Indiana as Assistant to the Public Works Manager, and JC Penney as Department Manager. In his retirement, Dan continued to work for 14 years with AARP Tax Preparation as well as remaining active in the community as a Chamber Active Volunteer and working with the Seniors Activity Center at the Lake where he was named Volunteer of the Year in 2008. Dan was a member in good standing of Lake Presbyterian Church in Osage Beach, Missouri. Dan is survived by his wife Laura Edwards; his children Dan S. Edwards II and wife, Mary and Dana Sachse and husband, Charles; his step children Lex Lane and wife, Jennifer, Seana Lane and husband, Alan Schaffer, and Dr. Ozma Lane; three sisters, Lois Drake, Linda Sullivan and husband, Ed, and Dinah Nelson and husband, Jim; one brother Keith Edwards and wife, Betty. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents Clint and Pearl Edwards; one sister, Lillian Edwards Norman; three infant brothers; his brothers Wayne and Bryant; and one step-son John Lane. Memorial Services with Military Honors will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Lake Presbyterian Church, 5716 Osage Beach Parkway, Osage Beach, MO Memorials are suggested to Lake Presbyterian Church, Senior Activity Center, or to the charity of donor's choosing. There will be a Celebration of Life memorial held July 4, 2017. Details will be given closer to time.
