Obituary of Betty Mae Parsons

Betty Mae Parsons of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Lakeside Meadows care facility in Osage Beach. She was born April 25, 1923, in Jewell County, Kansas to Lee O. and Evelyn Wise. On July 5, 1943 she was married in Eldon, Missouri, to John Henry Parsons. Mrs. Parsons worked in Wichita, Kansas during the WWII years, employed in the construction of Boing B-29 bomber aircraft. While working in Wichita, she met and later married Henry Parsons. After the war, the two of them tried their hand at farming but later moved to the Lake of the Ozarks area to work in the growing tourism industry. She worked at many of the Lake Area motels and hotels, including Holiday Inn Resort where she was Assistant Head Housekeeper and for a short time Head of Housekeeping. Betty later worked for many years at Kay’s Restaurant in Osage Beach. Mrs. Parsons is survived by her three sons, Ronnie D. Parsons of Osage Beach, Michael L. Parsons of St. Louisand Steve Parsons of Lake Ozark; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Henry, both of her parents of Cawker City Kansas, and her sister, Oleta Spooner of Glen Elder, Kansas. In life, Betty enjoyed sewing and crafts of many types. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and even after his passing would travel with friends to many parts of the United States. Above all she enjoyed her family and her many grand and great grandchildren. In later life when Betty needed care assistance, she lived at Lakeside Meadows, at first in assisted living and later in the skilled care facility. She appreciated the care she received there very much and I’m sure she would like to thank all of the team members at Lakeside for their excellent loving care and dedication to their work. Betty was a cherished friend, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
