Obituary of Brenda Kay Wickham

Brenda Kay Wickham (Katie) of Eldon, MO went to be with God and the angels on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the age of 68 years after a battle with COPD and Alzheimer’s. She was surrounded by her family in her home, just liked she wanted. Katie was born in Sedalia, MO on April 12, 1948, the daughter of Edward and Vesta Pemberton Harmon. Katie was united in marriage to Danny “Bear” Wickham on November 22, 1975. They shared together two children, Jason and Misty Dawn. Katie loved all people. She never knew a stranger. She loved to visit and loved to laugh! She was a lover of animals, but horses were her passion; especially her horse, Star. She enjoyed going to the casino to play her penny and nickel slot machines. She was known for her good luck at the Casino, and was most satisfied when she could share her winnings with friends and family. She loved spending time with her family, but her greatest joy was her “Brian Boy”, her grandson. Since the day Brian was born they shared a special bond that could not be broken, even in death. She also loved to spend time with her lifelong best friend, Dina Boles. They enjoyed many trips, shopping sprees, and slumber parties together; Mama loved Dina like a sister and always knew she could rely on her. She was preceded in death by her mother Vesta. Also her daddy, who was her hero, and nephew, Christopher Herrera. She is survived by her husband Bear, who was the love of her life. He cared for her until the end, allowing her to remain home until she passed, which was her wish. She is also survived by her two children, Jason (Betsy) Wickham and Misty Dawn (Brad) Wickham, grandson and “Best Boy”, Brian Benjamin, sister Betty Jo (Drue) Hogland, brother Larry (Juanita) Harmon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and others who also called her Mama K’ and Grandma K'. She had a heart bigger than her chest and will be missed by so many. We are heartbroken, but the memories we have of her will live on in our hearts forever. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Celebration of Life Services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, MO. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home.
