Obituary of Joseph Randall Hargrave
Joseph “JoJo” Randall Hargrave of Osage Beach, Missouri died on January 5, 2017. He was 62 years old. Jojo is survived by his wife Dee, cousins, and a whole community of friends and fellow musicians. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Barbara and Kitty.
Joseph Randall Hargrave was born April 12, 1954 in Lawrence, Kansas to Jeanne and Joseph Hargrave Sr. Raised by school teachers, Jojo learned at a very young age to respect the value of hard work and to embrace the love of good music. His Father Joe Sr. was a teacher, principal and later a superintendent. This put the family on the move to several towns throughout Kansas and Missouri. In the meantime, his mother, Jeanne taught music and dance. It is through his Momma he developed his musical talent. Being a very gifted percussionist, he won a spot representing the United States in a marching competition that was held in Europe. His small home town of Eudora, Kansas raised all the funds he needed to make this once in a life time dream a reality. After High School his love for music took him to Manhattan, Kansas where he was quickly selected to perform as part of the K-State Marching band.
After his college days, Jojo toured with many bands, such as the Monterey Band and the Renegades. In 1979 he made his move to Lake of the Ozarks. His first job after moving to the lake was with Chuck Watkins and the Ozark Jamboree. Several years later he was the original drummer for the Main Street Opry. In addition, he performed at shows in Branson, and also with many local bands around the lake. Then, in 2001 Jojo returned to playing with the Main Street Music Hall Group. In addition to music, Jojo had many other interests, including carpentry and working on Volkswagen Bugs.
On November 1, 2007 Jojo married the love of his life, Dee. Together they loved to play with their cats and spend enjoyable times together in their RV.
Joseph Jr. was affectionately referred to as JoJo by his friends and family. He will be remembered for his good nature and friendly smile, which was endearing to everyone who met him. Jojo was a talented musician and engaging performer, but more than that, he was a person who always put others first in every situation. He would always be there to lend a hand, a shoulder, or just a smile.
A Celebration Of Life for Jojo will be held at Faithbridge United Methodist Church, 901 Highway 42 Osage Beach Missouri 65065, Saturday, January 21, 2017 At 11:00 am with visitation following service.
