Obituary of John Michael Poland
John Michael (Mike) Poland, age 74, of Camdenton, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri.
Mike was born June 12, 1942, in Butler, Missouri. He was the son of John and Marjorie Hawley Poland.
Mike grew up in Butler and was a 1960 graduate of Butler High School. He enlisted with the United States Army in October 1966 where he served his country with honor as an Army Medical Corpsman. Mike received two Purple Heart Medals and a Silver Star Medal for his brave and courageous actions in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in September 1968.
On May 23, 1987, in Clinton, Missouri, Mike was united in marriage to Patricia Mills.
Mike was affiliated with the US Post Office in Camdenton, Lake Ozark, and St. Elizabeth, where he served as Postmaster until his retirement in July 2002. Mike enjoyed playing golf at Deere Chase Golf Course, camping and fishing with his buddies and family. He was an all around good friend and a complete gentleman.
Mike is survived by his wife Trish of the home; two brothers, Gary (Donna) and Denny; one son, Zach (Heather) and grandson Gunnar; one daughter, Jane (Larson) and grandson Wil; one stepson Chuck (Amy) McBroom and step granddaughter Hannah; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marjorie Poland.
Services will be held at a later date.
