Obituary of Ruthie Jane Jeffries

Ruthie Jane (Messer) Jeffries, age 82, recently of Richmond, Virginia, (previously of Montreal, MO) passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Hope Nursing Center in Richmond, Virginia. Ruthie was born September 13, 1934 in Montreal, Missouri. She was the daughter of Isaac & Ruth (Parrish) Messer. On July 14, 1953, Ruthie married Bernald Jeffries and they celebrated 62 years together in 2015, just before his passing in October of that year. Ruthie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Anytime you stopped by for a visit you could count on a delicious, home-cooked meal. She loved working in her garden and canning everything that she grew. Ruthie also loved to crochet, embroider and make quilts. Many of her family and friends have received homemade gifts from her over the years. Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband, Bernald; and her three brothers Philip, Donald & William. Ruthie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheilla & Brian Hellenga, and grandsons Greg & Grant Hellenga, all of Richmond, Virginia; her sister and brother-in-law, Bertha & William Pringle of Hesperia, California and many other family members. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Freedom Cemetery, 1750 State Rd. A, Montreal, Missouri.
