Obituary of Emogene Maxine Johnson

Emogene Maxine Johnson, age 92, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, departed this life Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Emogene was born November 15, 1924 in Pratt, Kansas. She was the daughter of Joseph and Lillie (Wittman) McBride. On August 3, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas, Emogene was united in marriage to Dwight Johnson. They shared over 67 years of marriage at the time of Dwight's death on May 6, 2011. Emogene was a loving and devoted wife and helpmate to her husband Dwight and a wonderful mother and grandmother to her children and their families. She relished her role as homemaker and created many beautiful memories for her family and friends. She loved living at the Lake of the Ozarks and enjoyed the beauty of the surrounding area. Emogene enjoyed riding over 300,000 miles on the back of her husband's motorcycles through the years. She crocheted and left behind many family heirlooms. She also enjoyed watching the many birds and hummingbirds from her lakeside porch. Emogene is survived by her sons, Dwayne Johnson and wife, Crystal, of Linn Creek, Missouri and Darrel Johnson and wife, Donna, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; her sister Phyllis Hewett and husband, Junior, of Cullison, Kansas; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Lillie McBride; her husband Dwight Johnson; and one sister Ellowene McBride. A small graveside remembrance will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Leonard Wood, in Waynesville, Missouri.
