Obituary of Charles R. Martin

Charles R. Martin, age 75, of Camdenton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Charles was born February 28, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Ray and Ethel (Luff) Martin. On September 8, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, Charles was united in marriage to Rita Garner. They shared over 55 years together at the time of his death. Charles owned Martin Sporting Goods Store in Kansas City earlier in his life. He was a career truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed working in taxidermy. Charles was known to be a handyman who could fix almost anything. Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a caring brother, neighbor and friend. He will be missed sorely by those who knew and loved him. Charles is survived by his wife, Rita, of the home; his son, Robert Martin and partner, Martin Backhauss, of Oakland, California; his daughter, Trish Creach and husband, Cary, of Macks Creek, Missouri; his brothers, Cliff Rodery and wife, Janett, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jim Martin and wife, Bev, of Trenton, Missouri; his sister, Betty Greenburg, of Phoenix, Arizona; and two grandchildren, Kylee Creach and Charlie Creach. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Ethel Martin; his daughter Kathy Martin; and his brother, Ed Martin. A Celebration of Life will be held later during the summer months.
